What e-bike repairs cost near Ultimo, Redfern and the CBD
If your e-bike has started playing up and you are in Ultimo, Chippendale, Redfern or the CBD, this is what the usual fixes cost at our workshop on Regent Street. Every price below comes straight from our repair price list and includes the part, the labour and GST, so the price you see is the price you pay.
One honest caveat before the numbers: the right repair depends on what we find once the bike is on the stand. Use this as a guide to what things cost, not as a quote for your bike.

Tyres and punctures
Fat tyres are forgiving, but they still puncture. A patch is $30. If the tube is past patching, a new one is $40 at the front and $45 at the rear. If the tyre itself is worn through or split, a new front tyre is $80 and a rear is $120 for 14 to 20 inch wheels, and tubeless tyres cost the same.
A valve that will not hold air is $25 on its own, and if a mudguard is rubbing on the tyre we can adjust it for $15. The cheapest way to avoid most of this is to check your tyre pressure every week: soft tyres pick up more punctures and cost you range.
Brakes
An e-bike carries more weight and more speed into every stop than an ordinary bike, so its brakes work harder. Brake problems often start small: pads that need adjusting ($20) or replacing ($30), or a brake line that needs adjusting ($40). On cable brakes, a new brake cable is $60 and a new caliper is $60 at the front or $65 at the rear.
If a hydraulic brake has failed, we replace the lever, cables and caliper as a set for $100, and an oil hose is $100. A warped disc rotor is $100 at the front and $130 at the rear. If your brakes feel different from one ride to the next, do not wait for them to get worse: bring the bike in.
Chain, pedals and cranks
A chain that slips under power or has snapped can often be repaired for $45; if it is stretched or worn out, a new chain is $75. A new pedal is $30, a left crank arm is $20, and the right crank arm with its sprocket is $35.
Electrical faults: display, throttle, sensors and cables
Electrical faults sound expensive, but many of the parts are modular and priced individually. An LED display is $75, a throttle handle is $50, a pedal sensor is $50 and a handlebar remote is $50.
When the power cuts in and out, the cause can be a connection rather than the motor itself. A battery output cable is $50, a motor cable is $100, and controller or wire soldering is $100.
Lights and small accessories have fixed prices too: a front light is $50, a rear light is $50, a headlight and horn is $60, and a phone holder is $15, or $50 with a USB output.
One safety note. If a battery is swollen, hot when it has not been used, smells of burning, or has taken a hard knock, stop riding it and stop charging it. Keep it away from anything that can burn, do not open it, and call us before you do anything else.
Bigger jobs: wheels, forks and suspension
A whole front wheel is $300, and a whole rear wheel with the hub motor is $550, including the hub and tyre. At the front end, a complete front suspension is $90, a front fork bracket (T-bar) is $90 or $150 with suspension, and a handlebar is $70. A pair of rear shocks is $60.
If a repair bill is heading toward the price of a new bike, it is worth comparing before you commit. Our current range is all on one page.
Seats, stands and racks
A new seat is $40 and a seat post is $35, with the seat support locker at $20. A side stand is $25, a double stand is $50, and a delivery rack is $50, all fitted.
