We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains how.
1. What we collect
If you buy from us
- Your name, email address, phone number and delivery address
- Your order details and order history
- Payment confirmation from our payment provider — we never receive or store your full card number
If you rent from us
- Identity documents we are shown at sign-up, such as your passport, and a debit or credit card
- Your rental agreement, bond, plan and payment records
- Service and repair history for the bike you are riding
If you contact us
- Whatever you tell us by email, phone, WhatsApp or in the shop, and our record of that conversation
Automatically, when you use this website
- Standard web server records, including your IP address, browser type and the pages you viewed
- Failed login attempts, which our security plugin logs to protect the site
2. Why we collect it
- To take, prepare, deliver and support your order
- To manage rentals, bonds, servicing and returns of our bikes
- To answer your questions and provide customer service
- To meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations
- To protect our property — for example recovering a stolen bike
- To keep our website secure
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not trade or rent it to anyone for marketing.
3. Cookies and tracking
This website uses functional cookies only — the ones WordPress and WooCommerce need to remember what is in your cart, keep your checkout session working, and keep you signed in if you have an account.
We do not run advertising or analytics trackers on this site — there is no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel and no TikTok Pixel. We do not build advertising profiles about you and we do not use cookies to follow you around other websites.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the shopping cart and checkout will not work properly without them.
4. Third parties we use

Each of these providers handles your information under its own privacy policy. Some of them, including Square and Google, are based overseas or store data on servers outside Australia, which means your information may be handled outside Australia when you use those parts of the site.
5. Who else we may share it with
- Our accountant and professional advisers, where needed to run the business
- Police, where a bike is reported stolen or where we are required to assist an investigation
- Debt recovery or legal services, where a rental account remains unpaid
- Anyone else, where you have asked us to, or where the law requires it
6. Marketing
If we send you news or offers, every message will include a way to unsubscribe, and we will stop as soon as you ask. Order confirmations, delivery updates and rental notices are not marketing — we need to send those to complete your transaction.
7. How we store and protect it
Your information is held in our website database, our email, and our business records. We use secure hosting, restrict access to the people who need it, and keep our software up to date. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you give us.
We keep records for as long as we need them for the purpose we collected them, and for as long as tax and business law requires. After that we delete or de-identify them.
8. Getting to your information, and correcting it
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, and ask us to correct anything that is wrong. Email info@techebike.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to confirm your identity first.
You can also ask us to delete information we no longer need. Some records we are required to keep — tax and sales records, for example — and we will tell you if that applies.
9. Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please tell us first at info@techebike.com.au. We will look into it and get back to you.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your complaint, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, with the date shown at the top.
